About Cosmetic Acupuncture & Gua Sha in St Leonards

Our amazing practitioner, Lisa Burnley, has extra training in performing cosmetic acupuncture and facial gua sha and is now available for appointments at the St Leonards clinic.

In a session, you will have time for a proper consultation to discuss your cosmetic goals, as well as any niggling underlying health issues. Often our general health will express itself on our face. For example, those 11 lines between the eyebrows from frowning relate to stress/tension, which we diagnose as Liver Qi Stagnation. By using acupuncture points on the body to smooth the Liver Qi, we are able to reduce how much you frown. Amazing, right?

Another example is how your Lung Qi affects your cheeks and around your nose/mouth. Ever noticed those areas are more prone to getting dry skin during Autumn and Winter? This is because your Lung Yin becomes weaker. With acupuncture focussed on supporting the Lung Yin and Qi, it can help reduce flushed, dry skin during the cooler months, and as an added bonus, it helps keep your Lungs strong if you are exposed to pathogens like upper respiratory viruses!

Gua sha is an ancient Chinese technique that we often use on the body for tight muscles and areas of pain, but on the face we have a much more gentle approach that is designed to gentle lift sagging areas and relax muscle tension. Body acupuncture points can also be used during a Gua Sha cosmetic session.
